SABBS Chairman - Letter 2016/02

8 November 2016

Dear SABBS Member

I am pleased to include a copy of the minutes of the 1st pdf SABBS Annual General Meeting, held on 30 September 2016 (243 KB) at the Afridome Showgrounds, Parys, Free State, South Africa. I would like to make use of this opportunity to share some of the latest developments at SABBS with you.

We have been organising the various substructures of the SABBS Board over the past weeks. The Board believes that it is important that you understand how responsibilities are shared among Board members, representatives, and you as a member. To that end, the SABBS organogram is published on the SABBS website at http://sabbs.org/about-sabbs/governance.

One of the main objectives of the SABBS Board is to create a structure that will ensure that SABBS members all over the world can be reached and served as efficiently as possible. It is not practical to have a Board member for every country or region. It is thus necessary to make use of regional representatives. We are serious about identifying loyal SABBS members with the required skills for this purpose.

You as a member should get to know your Board member/representative. If you have a concern or problem with SABBS or an individual, please take the matter to your Board member/ representative and ask him/her to address it. We would also like to know when you experience something positive about SABBS, our members or the Boerboel: please share it with us.

Many of our members are highly qualified in a wide variety of fields. If you are among them, we invite you to inform us of your field of expertise and whether you are willing to offer your time and skills to the benefit of the Society. We would like to see SABBS function as a well-oiled machine.

Our Appraisal Committee has started planning events for 2017. If you would like to register a need for an appraisal day, please contact your Board member, or write to the SABBS Office at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The Board is here to serve you, our valued member. Please feel free to contact us with your comments and suggestions.

Yours sincerely,

Koos van der Westhuizen
