SABBS requires DNA profiles of both parents to register their offspring. HD, ED and Vaginal Hyperplasia reports from registered veterinary institutions are also compulsory for entry into the Stud and Development Registers. Veterinary reports on Ectropion/Entropion are not required at present, but Stud and Development Register dogs must have been assessed by a SABBS appraiser as having either correct (+) or acceptable (o) for their eyelids.
SABBS may require random DNA tests from time to time. Stud Book also does random DNA tests of all breeds annually, and draws a percentage of all births for verification. This is a requirement of the International Committee for Animal Recording (ICAR).
