One of the conditions of the Animal Improvement Act (AIA) is that – as a declared landrace – Boerboels MUST be exported and imported with permits issued by the Registrar of Animal Improvement. This condition also applies to genetic material (semen, ova and embryos). The Registrar’s fee per application is ZAR 390 for exports. He will approve applications on recommendation of SABBS and SA Stud Book only.
Please adhere to the following procedure when applying for an Export/Import Permit:
Transfer of ownership cannot be processed if this procedure was not followed.
1.
Boerboels and genetic material may only be exported and imported with a valid permit issued by the Registrar of Animal Improvement.
2.
Download the Export/Import Application Form or request a copy from the SABBS Office at .
3.
Export/import permits are issued per country, irrespective of the number of dogs/genetic materials exported/imported on any given occasion. Therefore: –
a.
all dogs/genetic materials to be exported to/imported from a single country at the same time must be applied for on the same application form, and only one application fee is payable to the Registrar, irrespective of the number of dogs/genetic materials; and
b.
dogs/genetic materials to be exported to/imported from different countries, must be applied for on separate application forms, and an application fee is payable per application form (i.e. for each country), irrespective of the number of dogs/genetic materials.
c.
Application fees for separate application forms must be paid separately, even if applications are submitted at the same time. Fees for veterinary certificates MUST NOT be paid into this account.
4.
Pay the SABBS fee for the processing of the export permit application (levied per application, not per dog/genetic material).
5.
6.
The Export/Import permit(s) will be issued by the Registrar on recommendation by SABBS.
7.
8.
Should you, or an export/import agent, deal directly with the Registrar’s Office, it is your responsibility to ensure that the SABBS Office receives a copy of the Export/Import Permit. Following this route may lead to delays.
